What Others Are Saying About "Is It Me or Relationship OCD" by Elise Mills!

Got relationship issues that stem from anxiety, low self-esteem or paranoia?! Go buy and this book.

Words pale in comparison when attempting to describe the profound impact that Elise Mills' book, "Is It Me or Relationship OCD" has upon my life. However, I will still happily share how Mills' book is a pleasant and groundbreaking surprise. Be warned this journey of self-discovery includes uncovering flaws that you may not have known were there (it heightens self-awareness, and activates previously doormat/ignored accountability by forcing you to hold up a mirror of honesty to yourself). Concepts/issues (such as how R-OCD leads to bigger problems like anxiety, intrusive thoughts, low self-esteem, and paranoia) that negatively affect what kind of relationships you engage in with yourself and others are discussed in vivid detail. Mills takes it 5 steps further (which also enhances the healing process) by defining these concepts, giving examples, and providing solutions to each of these issues. Maybe you don't suffer from R-OCD but someone you love does, trust me buying Mills' book even for someone else is worth it. You can't fix a problem that you are not aware exists and neither can they. Mills' book is also a quick read, super organized, and easy to comprehend.

Well researched and well written

It is very clear that the author conducted thorough and extensive research. As someone who going through CBT for other aspects of my life, I can say I recognized many of the tenants of CBT discussed in the book.

While the book is science based and touches on complex themes and ideas, it is well organized and easy to read. This book can help people differentiate as to whether their doubts are run-of-the-mill thoughts many people experience with new relationships, or if there is a deeper issue at hand. Anecdotes provided illustrate what R-OCD may look like in an individual person and in a relationship. Useful tools, such as breathing techniques, strategies for coping, and tips for self-care, are embedded throughout the text. I felt encouraged to explore some of the tips (i.e. checking in and setting boundaries) in this book as it relates to my own relationship.

One of the greatest things to come out of this book is its advocacy for mental health and seeking professional help. I hope you read this book and learn as much as I did.

Discover how to control your thoughts, anxiety, and obsessions so they don’t control you and your relationships.

You have been with your partner for quite some time, but your relationship is still peppered with incessant, nerve-wracking worries.

Try as you might, you can’t shake off the fear of losing your partner or being rejected by them. You find yourself constantly seeking reassurance by checking their text messages and social media accounts to make sure everything is okay.

Your mind is filled with doubt, with questions and thoughts like…

● “Do I really love my partner?” or “Do they really love me?”

● “Are we really meant to be?”

● “Am I good enough for my partner?”

● “I didn’t really feel turned on last night…”

What’s worse, you feel ashamed and embarrassed to talk about your struggles with anyone, most of all… your partner.

However, here’s a reality check: This lack of communication further perpetuates your issues.

What you need to grasp is that your anxiety and obsessive thoughts are not a reflection of your relationship or your partner, but rather a result of your own internal struggles.

The good news is, there is one method – backed by research studies and recommended by experts – to help deal with a range of problems including relationship problems and anxiety. It’s called cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) – a form of psychological treatment that effectively and significantly improves functioning and quality of life.

You don’t have to be intimidated by CBT – this book offers a comprehensive yet easy-to-understand guide so you can navigate around this method and overcome your struggles with practical and proven exercises.

Like a helpful friend, it enables you to break free from the chains of your anxiety and start living a happier and more fulfilling life.
